When Michael Gove and Alison Klejna were expecting their first child, they chose Cooley Dickinson Hospital to welcome their daughter, Emily. The compassionate care they received stuck with them. “From the moment we arrived, we felt cared for—not just medically, but personally. That experience stayed with us,” Michael said.
Even before Emily's arrival, Michael’s firm, Legacy Counsellors, was already committed to their community hospital and annually hosts the Get Your Pink On event to raise funds for patients at Cooley Dickinson’s Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute. And with their daughter’s birth, Alison’s relationship with the hospital now spans three generations – her mother was first born at Cooley in 1948, Alison followed in 1982, and her sister was delivered there as a micro-preemie and was named after one of the nurses who assisted in her birth.
When Michael and Alison updated their estate plans, they talked about the organizations and people who matter most to them and chose to include Cooley Dickinson Hospital—along with the loved ones they care for. They’ve also passed their values on to their daughter, now 7, by teaching her about spending, saving, and sharing—helping her carry forward their belief in giving where you live.
